The mission of the American Medical Writers Association is to promote excellence in medical communication and to provide educational resources in support of that goal.

Education is the core of AMWA's mission. The association offers educational opportunities for new and experienced medical communicators. Workshops are offered at AMWA's annual conference, at chapter conferences, and self-study modules, and can be applied toward AMWA's recognized and valued certificate program.

The American Medical Writers Association (AMWA), founded in 1940, is the leading professional organization for medical communicators. The more than 5,000 members from around the world include a variety of medical and professional communicators.

AMWA enhances the professionalism of freelance medical writers and editors and of those employed by a hospital, medical school, clinic, health sciences center, foundation, or nonprofit association, or by a pharmaceutical, medical communication, or biotechnology company.
