CCA was founded in Denver by Christopher Carvell, AIA in 1995. Mr. Carvell and his senior associates have guided programming, master planning, and the design of numerous critical efforts for private investor/developers, corporate end users, municipal/governmental and College and University clients nationwide. In addition to CCA’s portfolio of high profile market rate/mixed use housing and affordable LIHTC Housing, CCA’s clients include some of the nation’s most prestigious public-private partnership (P3) student housing developers. CCA’s commissions have involved every aspect of the built environment.
Diverse in scale, character and visual expression, Christopher Carvell Architects PC work has won many AIA and industry design awards for excellence. Embracing the use of technology and sustainable practices, the firm’s projects create exceptionally humane environments. CCA’s design philosophy emphasizes: a clear expression of the clients program challenges (on-site workshop process); a comprehensive micro-master planning analysis of the character of the site’s surroundings, respect for the subtle qualities of the land, and the need for honoring a sense of place. CCA takes a holistic approach to site planning, architecture, and interiors. This connects people with ideas, reinforcing space that encourages interaction and learning. The firm’s work is recognized for its commitment to simplicity of structure and building form. Energy efficient practices include optimizing the buildings orientation to control solar loads while maximizing daylighting and natural ventilation. Other sustainable features include high performance building envelopes and the use of local indigenous materials.
