Sound Diplomacy is the leading music export and conference development agency. Founded in January 2013 by Canadian-born, London-based music industry consultant Shain Shapiro, previously the UK and EU Representative for the Canadian Independent Music Association. In this role, he coordinated conference and festival activities for Canadian bands and companies in 20+ countries. Its other directors include Katja Hermes (Berlin), who studied Geography and Anthropology and managed the portfolio of Initiative Musik, Germany’s popular music funding agency and showcasing producer for four years and Jordi Puy Campas (Barcelona), former head of UK / Ireland for the Catalan Institute for the Cultural Industries (ICEC). Its team includes Danny Keir, former music manager for Razorlight, The Noisettes and Lucy Rose. It has recently added Emma De Decker as its Indian representative. She has coordinated Indian tours for the embassies of France, Norway, Wales and Israel and programmes the Goa Jazz Festival and India Music Week.
Sound Diplomacy has a team of nine, offices in three countries and a roster of over 30 clients from 20+ countries, including over 15 music conferences, events, brands and showcases and 10 governments, universities and public bodies. It specialises in music conference development, international business coordination, research and music industry market development.
