Renaissance Knights Chess Foundation

Renaissance Knights is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational organization dedicated to bringing the many educational benefits of chess to children and young people throughout the Greater Chicago area by providing chess curriculum, enrichment programs, tournaments and events. Since 2005, we have supported over 50 chess programs in Chicago, served over 25,000 children, provided equipment and scholarships to Chicago area children, schools and community groups, and sponsored chess at many special events in Chicago.

Since our inception, we have been the leading chess organization in Chicago and on the forefront of changes in the Chess community. We have led the push for Chicago Public Schools support chess and through our work Chicago City Council passed resolution encouraging CPS to make chess part of its school curriculum.

We are known coast to coast for the quality of our tournaments which include the Knights Quest tournaments, the first and longest running monthly tournament and the first to use rating sections for scholastic sections, the Greater Chicago Chess Championships – a regional Championship for the Midwest and the KCF All-Girls National Championships - the largest girl’s only tournament in America. Starting in the 2014-15 school year, Renaissance Knights will be setting up the Chicago Scholastic Chess League which will feature interscholastic team competition for schools in the Chicago Area.

We rely on diverse fundraising efforts to sustain & expand our programs and services. We are looking for individuals that are able to help us establish connections to key people who have relationships with foundations, banks, Chicago Public Schools officials, high net worth individuals, philanthropists, City Officials or anyone who can help us grow and deliver our services. We need donors and people who can help you find new donors and we are looking for individuals to serve on our Executive Board and Board of advisors.
