Tacoma Rail

Tacoma Rail is a 100 percent self-supported railroad and is one of three operating divisions of Tacoma Public Utilities. As a utility it plays a major role supporting the Port of Tacoma – the seventh largest port in the country and works hard to ensure timely, efficient and cost-effective service. Tacoma Rail's more than 110 employees provide service 24 hours a day, seven days per week and handle all of the responsibilities of any common carrier railroad, including track inspection and maintenance, locomotive maintenance, customer service and administration. Tacoma Rail seeks to provide safe, reliable and efficient rail transportation solutions that support economic development in Tacoma and throughout the Puget Sound region.
